Control table access using groups and permissions

Once a user is signed in to your new Code Stylist created website with their Open ID, their ability to view, edit, or add records in tables is governed by the permissions you have assigned to the group they belong to.

Default groups

Code Stylist creates three groups for you: members, administrators, and everyone. For each table you can assign permissions to one of these three groups, or create your own group using the web-based interface.

  1.  'everyone' refers to any visitor to your web site
  2. 'members' refers to any visitor who signs in using an Open ID. Their Open ID profile is automatically transferred and logged in the identities table.
  3. 'administrators' refers to the first registered person (probably yourself) or any person granted the privileges of administrator by adding them to the administrators group
  4. 'mygroup'  is whatever you want it to be. You can create as many groups as you want, and assign them each specific permissions for specific tables. Read more below.

Create a new group

  1. Browse directly to your site folder with your Web browser.
  2. Sign in using your Open ID.
  3. Click on Groups and click New Group to create your own access list.
  4. Enter the email addresses of the members you wish to include in your new group.
  5. Click Save Group

  5. Finally, click the Publish button to transmit the updated data model to the web server.
