How to Test Code Stylist
(should take about 15 minutes or less)
1. download and install from www.codestylist.com
2. launch the Code Stylist application
type in your e-mail address on the first screen
also, give your site a name other than "latest web posts"
3. click the Setup button at top-right, and then click Verify Setup
Code Stylist will churn for a while as it sets up a database for you on our guest.codestylist.com server
4. after the "loading tables" message disappears, click Publish
5. use your e-mail address to log in to your new Web site. by being the first person to log in, you will become the only member of the "administrators" Group, which lets you manage the Groups, Categories and Posts for the site
Groups -- are collections of e-mail addresses for being notified about new content
Categories -- when new content is posted it can be sorted into these
Posts -- blog posts, others can post comments or 5-star-style ratings
6. make a new Group by clicking on the Groups link -- you can start by using your own e-mail address -- the basic idea is that when new content is posted to a database table, everybody in the groups for that table receives an e-mail with a link to the new content
write down the name of the group! it must be exact
7. now, back to Code Stylist. click on the Posts table in the left-side window of Code Stylist. You will see Permissions and Relationships.
8. below the Permissions box, click the little "+" to grant permission to the group you created, type the group name (exact!) and check the boxes for Create and Read
9. now click on the Comments table and below the Permissions box, click the little "+" to grant permission to the group you created, type the group name and check the boxes for "Create" and "Read"
10. finally, click Publish
Now, click on Posts and create a new Post! everybody should get notified
